I haven't stopped "dieting"

Last Tuesday I had forgotten to take blood pressure meds for a couple days and fainted and fell into some metal shelves. I'm doing fine, now, but this interrupted many things. I have read some stories and essays in the intervening days, but have not posted. That should be remedied soon, but I wanted to let people know I see this as a long term project.

  1. Be careful! Were they bookshelves? I've always thought that death by falling books (as in Howard's End) would be an appropriate death for me. (You *have* seen the Merchant/Ivory production of Howard's End, haven't you? It's one of my favorite movies. Though, ironically, I've never read the book.)

  2. Hi Jeremy,

I remember that scene! But here it was falling Rick killing a shelf. I had only fully fainted once before, at age nine, and at that time was able to put my hands before me to break my fall. I didn't picture going lights out without making minimum arrangements. I went down with way more force than I would have imagined. It hurt like hell momentarily, not long enough to suffer. But I replay the shock of it in my head a lot.

I haven't read "Howard's End," either. I did enjoy what I read of "A Passage to India." I need to finish that one.
